Stifling second half defense would allow the Simpson Storm women’s basketball team to stay undefeated on the season on the road at Luther Monday evening in an American Rivers Conference showdown 75-60. The winless Norse had a first quarter lead of 19-16, but the Storm fought back to tie the score at 32 heading into the halftime break. In the third, the normally defensive-minded Storm squad gave up 22 points and trailed by three going into the final ten minutes, but they would give up only six fourth quarter points and went on a 24-6 spree to end the contest and stay in first place. Simpson forced 22 Luther turnovers and committed only 7 themselves, with Jenna Taylor leading the way with 18 points. Simpson improves to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play, and will next host the Spartans of Dubuque on Saturday.
