With three seniors graduating out of the program, the makeup of the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad will be different next winter. With that said, the Panthers will also have new faces that are ready to step into starting roles for the first time in their career. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is hopeful that the freshman and sophomores who were on the team this season work in the offseason so they are ready to make an impact when the season begins in November.
Uitermarkt:
“Multiple starting spots up for grabs plus tons of playing time, and I have no doubt these kids and I know they play multiple sports, but I think when it’s time to work on basketball this offseason they’ll be there.”
Sophomore Ashlyn Finarty was a part time starter from midseason on, and Freshman Brittany Bacorn proved how athletic she is with several defensive plays during the last half of this season, plus sophomores Larissa Wells, and Norah Pearson, until her season ending injury, could have expanded roles for the Panthers. Knoxville finished the season last Thursday with a 15-6 record.
