Pleasantville’s girls’ basketball team finished with their first double-digit winning season since 2017-18, and there could be many more wins next winter with who’s coming back.
The Trojans will have four starters returning to the lineup, including top scorer and rebounder Malorie McKinney, who averaged a double-double. The only starter graduating from Pleasantville is Breanna Benge, who averaged over six points per game. The final starting spot for the Trojans will be a question for the team to ponder. With Faith Vanderhart also graduating, Azell Smith, Rayne Olsen, and Carlie Sloan will be the top contenders for the final starting spot next season. Coach Jeff Cook tells KNIA Sports that his team needs to shoot better in order to be successful next season.
“I told them in the locker room, the one thing that this team has got to do for next year to get better is to shoot the ball in the offseason. We have just got to become better shooters.
Smith, Olsen, and Sloan combined to score 50 points last season, which is about half of what Vanderhart scored for the Trojans last season.
