The Indianola School Board approved an expansion of the district IT department at their meeting Monday, part of a months-long discussion about providing teachers and students resources to help with digital learning. Superintendent Art Sathott tells KNIA News one of the positions the board approved was a Student Information Systems Manager, which for the growing district is a huge need.
“LIke the name implies, the position would manage our student information systems. There is a tremendous amount of data and a lot of complexity to the different parts of our online Power School portal and the things districts do these days. That person would also provide some support from enrollment. Right now both of those duties are rolled into one position, and we’ve had quite a bit of turnover with some good people because it’s just a very stressful job and too much for two people. So it’s something we’ve had on our radar for awhile.”
