The Pella Fire Department and Pella Police Department responded to calls of a possible fire Wednesday evening. According to Assistant Fire Chief Randy Bogaard, a candle left burning in a bedroom caught fire, but as homeowners returned to 313 Cedar Drive, they called in noticing alarms going off and smoke coming from one of the rooms. Upon arriving shortly after 6:51 p.m., officers with the Pella Police Department were able to initially extinguish any flames, and as Bogaard said the bedroom door was shut, it prevented further potential spread. Pella fire crews inspected the scene and helped remove smoke from the house and any damaged items, which Bogaard said was limited to what was in the room. No injuries were reported, and Pella Ambulance also assisted on scene.
