The Marion County Rural Water District experienced a water main break earlier this week. Manager Austin Geery tells KNIA/KRLS News that nearly the entire service area was affected because a pipe burst along the company’s main supply line. He says that much of the service area remains under a boil advisory throughout the weekend while they await test results.

“Once we get the OK from the lab, we’ll lift the advisory. Most likely Monday morning, Tuesday at the latest. If there were a setback with that, we would let the public know. We’d send a text message to customers.”

Residents are reminded that water should be boiled before consumption, but does not need to be boiled for other uses.
