The goal for the Twin Cedars Girls Basketball Squad next season is simple, win the Bluegrass Conference title. The Sabers finished in a tie for 3rd place with a 7-3 record and a .500 overall record of 11-11. Coach Trent Verwers tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he knows the girls will be playing a lot of softball this summer, but he hopes they make time to work on basketball.

Verwers:
“What it’s going to come down to is working in the summer, and I know our girls play a lot of softball, but as players and coaches we have to put in the work during the summer. That’s definitely a goal of ours to win a conference championship next year.”

The Sabers will return 85% of their scoring from this season. Verwers adds it does not have to be a lot of time, just a few minutes to work on shooting and ball handling.
