The Pella City Council will consider approval of a contract for phase I of the Wonder Spelen all-inclusive playground at Kiwanis Park at their meeting Tuesday.
A public hearing is on the agenda to consider bids from three contractors for all labor, material, and equipment to construct an all-inclusive playground, off-street parking, restroom facilities, and several infrastructure and quality of life improvements.
The council approved a partnership agreement with Wonder Spelen on September 17, 2019 that states the improvements will be constructed, owned, and maintained by the city and public funds totalling $320,000 going to the project, and Wonder Spelen funding the remaining difference.
City Engineer Snyder and Associates estimated the first phase to cost approximately $1.12 million for the upgrades to the park on North Main Street.
