The Bluegrass Conference has released its all-conference selections and the two Marion County schools were represented. Twin Cedars has announced that two players from the boys basketball squad have made all-Bluegrass Conference this season. Earning 2nd team was Devin Arkema. Arkema was the Sabers’ leading scorer at 15.7 points per game, had a nearly 70% free throw average, pulled down 83 rebounds and led the team in steals with 24. Earning honorable mention was Kade Dunkin. He averaged 10.9 points per contest and came up with 22 steals. The Sabers finished with a record of 7-10 and finished 9th in the Bluegrass Conference. Three Twin Cedars Girls Basketball Players earned either 1st, 2nd or honorable mention all-Bluegrass Conference this season. Earning 1st team honors was Brooke Roby. She was an unanimous pick averaging 12.7 points per game, she was also the team’s second leading rebounder at 125 this season and was tops on the team with 58 steals and 25 blocked shots. Roby is also 220 points away from 1,000 for her career. Getting 2nd team honors was Rylee Dunkin. She had a conference best 1.41 assist to turnover ratio she led the team in assists with 66. Cheyenne Bruns made honorable mention. She was second on the team with 25 three point shots made. Twin Cedars finished with an 11-11 record and tied for 3rd in the Bluegrass Conference. An improved season netted three Melcher-Dallas Girls Basketball Players earning all-Bluegrass Conference this basketball season. Kynser Reed earned 1st team. She led the Saints in scoring at 12.6 points per game, and was also the team leader in rebounds with 130 and blocked shots with 25. Earning 2nd team was Haley Godfrey. She scored 9.8 points per contest. Kacey Enfield got honorable mention and she averaged 4.9 points per game. The Saints finished with a record of 8-11 and 4-5 in the Bluegrass Conference which was a tie for 6th, but advanced all the way to the conference tournament championship game. The boys got four players on 1st, 2nd, or honorable all-Bluegrass Conference led by Ryan Krpan, who was an unanimous pick and earned his third straight 1st team designation. Krpan averaged 17.2 points per game in leading the Saints and was one of four players to grab over 100 rebounds. Ryan’s twin brother Steven was picked for the 2nd team. Ryan averaged 8.4 points per contest. Lane Vanderlinden was also picked for the 2nd team as he averaged 13.1 points per game. He led the team with 120 rebounds and had 107 steals, also tops for the Saints. Owen Suntken earned honorable mention. The Sophomore averaged 7.7 points per game. Suntken was the team leader in shooting at 44%, and grabbed 129 rebounds. Melcher-Dallas finished 9-10 and finished in a tie for 5th in the conference with a 5-4 record.
