A long-term project in Knoxville is scheduled to be completed this spring, as the Competine Trail will be paved. Parks & Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers says the weather will dictate the schedule, but the project will be completed soon.
“As soon as it dries out, we are first on the general contractor’s list to get that paved. It’s been a long process if anyone has followed that trail. Hopefully in April, but we’ll see. It all depends on Mother Nature. But that is on track to get paved, and we’ll connect to the section here at the rec center and offer a nice trail.”
Construction of the trail bed was completed last summer. Upon paving, residents can enjoy a continuous trail from the recreation center across Highway 14 to 5th Street.
