A Chariton woman faces multiple felony charges after two incidents in Marion County. On Thursday at 8:25 p.m., Marion County deputies observed a black Chevy Trailblazer with its headlights turned off parked on Pratt Street at the intersection with County Highway S45, just north of Melcher-Dallas. As deputies turned onto Pratt St., the vehicle turned its headlights on and turned south on S45. Upon a traffic stop, the driver was identified as 28-year-old Brittany Jean Lee.
Deputies observed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and advised Lee to step out of the vehicle. Lee admitted she had other illegal items, and pulled a smoking device with burnt residue out of her pocket. A search of the vehicle turned up a crystalline substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine. The search was stopped at this time, and Lee was placed under arrest. A search warrant for the vehicle was requested and obtained. A further search turned up 34 grams of methamphetamine and 67 grams of marijuana, as well as cash, a scale, and plastic baggies.
When Lee arrived at the Marion County Jail, staff found that she was in possession of unauthorized US currency.
Lee faces charges for possession of controlled substances, drug tax stamp violations, drug trafficking, and failure to use headlamps. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 4th.
