Pella Historical Society and Museums are finishing their winter hibernation, and are set for their annual reopening this spring. Assistant Director Jessi Vos says they are welcoming guests and members starting March 22nd, with a new display that will focus on life in Pella before the Dutch settlers arrived and other historic moments for the community outside of that group.
“It details the story of Pella residents before the Dutch and besides the Dutch,” she says. “So we’ll be talking about the Native Americans, other groups that came before the Dutch came over from the Netherlands in 1847, and we will also be talking about other residents in Pella who have immigrated here or lived here, including Black residents and the time Martin Luther King, Jr. came to visit in the 1960s.”
