The Simpson men’s basketball team fell to Wartburg Wednesday evening to wrap up their American Rivers Conference schedule 69-64. The Storm fell behind early despite the opening minutes of the game being close with the game tied at 13, but the Knights then went on an 18-8 run to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish for the rest of the contest. Wartburg pulled away at the end of the first leading 39-28, then maintained a double-digit lead for most of the second half until less than four minutes left when the Storm made a small run to get the game within striking distance. Simpson got the game down to four with 30 seconds remaining, but made free throws by the Knights and missed shots from the Storm ended the contest. Simpson falls to 3-6 on the season, and 3-4 in ARC play. They will find out their postseason opponent when the brackets are set this weekend.
