The Pella City Council scheduled two public hearings related to a full conversion of 218th Avenue south of Neil Drive from gravel to paved city street at their meeting this week.

Assistant City Administrator Corey Goodenow says on April 6th, council will consider bids for a nearly $1.5 million reconstruction of the road from Idaho Drive to the Shady Brook subdivision. The project entails full conversion of the gravel road into a city street with an adjacent sidewalk connecting to the Volksweg Trail and the Pella Soccer Complex.

Council is also considering the issuance of bonds to finance the project at their March 16th meeting. If a contract is approved in April, substantial completion will take place by November of this year.
