The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has released video from a chase that occurred in late February and led to two arrests.

According to police, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Skylar Wickam of Knoxville at 5:30 a.m. on February 24th. He did not stop and led officers eastbound on Highway G28. A tire deflation device deployed by the Pella Police Department eventually led to the vehicle stopping before Wickam fled on foot, and he was later tased and detained in the Casey’s parking lot on Washington Street.

Wickam faces several charges for the pursuit and had multiple warrants out for his arrest in Marion and Jasper Counties, relating to violation of the sex offender registry and for fleeing from police on December 31st, 2020 for a pursuit that had speeds topping out at 97 miles per hour in Jasper County.

Wickam was driving a vehicle belonging to Jocelyn Meinders of Pella, who was in the front passenger seat during the chase, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Marion County Sheriff’s office. Meinders had a warrant out for her arrest after allegedly providing police with false names for both Wickam and herself when Knoxville Police responded to a verbal dispute at an apartment on Robinson Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday, January 29th.
