The rich tradition of Pella at the state tournament continues this week as the No. 2 Dutch return to Wells Fargo Arena on Tuesday night.

Pella is a traditional power in Class 3A, and this is the 18th appearance in the final eight all-time–15 of which have come since 1989. In nine of those trips, Pella finished in the top four nine times and played in five state title games, with two title wins in back-to-back seasons in 2002 and 2003.

Last year, the tournament road was cut short in the opening round as Pella fell to Sergeant Bluff-Luton in the semifinals 58-43. Both teams are back in the state quarterfinals Tuesday, as the Dutch enter this week as the No. 2 seed following a 22-2 regular season and a Little Hawkeye Conference championship.

Coverage from the 2021 state tournament journey for Pella begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday from Wells Fargo Arena, as Pella takes on undefeated Monticello in the 3A semifinals, on 92.1 KRLS.
