Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend. Residents are reminded to set their clocks one hour forward to reflect the change that occurs at 2:00 a.m. Sunday. Daylight Saving Time was first signed into law in the United States in 1918 as a way to conserve energy and support the effort of World War I. Daylight Saving Time also serves as an effective reminder for residents to check all safety equipment in their home such as smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and carbon monoxide detectors.
