Simpson College is hosting a discussion tomorrow evening with author and political historian Marc C. Johnson regarding his book, “Tuesday Night Massacre: Four Senate Elections and the Radicalization of the Republican Party.”
Simpson College (simpson.edu) will host a discussion with political historian Marc C. Johnson at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 18, 2021. Johnson is the author of “Tuesday Night Massacre: Four Senate Elections and the Radicalization of the Republican Party.”
The book reviews how the Senate races in Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, and South Dakota in 1980 continue to shape American politics, including the loss by Senator John C. Culver of Iowa, the namesake for the John C. Culver Public Policy Center. Culver lost to current U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley.
The event is sponsored by the Iowa History Center and the John C. Culver Public Policy Center, and will be held virtually. The discussion is free and open to the public, however registration is required. Find information on registration below.
