Pella High School senior Ryan Mace called last Friday’s state championship victory over Ballard a dream come true.
Mace is a three-sport athlete for the Little Dutch, having quarterbacked the football team to a pair of playoff performances, pitched for the baseball team since his freshman year and started all 27 games as a forward on this year’s basketball title team. He joined Trevor Castle during the postgame show following Friday’s championship victory at Wells Fargo Arena.
“Growing up in Pella, we came here a few times and I watched people like Ryan Van Wyk and Nick Finney play. It’s incredible to be able to play here and have the little kids in the community look up to you, because I was once that kid.”
