The Indianola City Council passed the FY2022 budget at their meeting Monday which included a new position of a rental/code inspector position. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city has been anticipating this for some time, and the new position has been built into the budget along with three new firefighter/EMS positions without raising property taxes.
“We are able to hold the property tax flat this year, and that is attributed to the economic growth of our community over the last five years. We’ve had about $200 million in growth which is pretty impressive, and that is certainly something that helps us afford these services without raising our taxes.”

Waller also said home building in Indianola has significantly risen over the past four years, and will continue to be a priority for city staff.
