The Knoxville City Council approved a financial contribution to a Target Industry Analysis and Strategy study by the Marion County Development Commission. Interim City Manager Heather Ussery says this project is intended to grow the local economy.

“What this entails is identifying industries that could bring value to Marion County and identifying available sites and buildings for those industries, as well as working with city economic development groups and the chamber on recommending ways to market those industries for our community and responding to those inquiries. That’s done through market assessments and stakeholder meetings with community members. The Marion County Development Commission is funding the project, but they’re requesting local support from organizations.”

The city’s contribution was $1,000. View details of the study here.
