In the final NCAA Division III National Team Ratings Index released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday, the Central College men’s and women’s indoor track and field squads landed in the top-15.
The Dutch men jumped No. 8 and the women leapt five spots to No. 12.
Points in the National Team Rating Index are based off placement in the National Descending Order Lists. The higher an athlete sits on the list, the more points he or she adds to his or her team’s total. These points do not reflect placement or scoring at the NCAA Championships, but is to show the individuals and teams that have the best chances at scoring well at said meet.
Central’s men squad has five top-10 national marks. Brock Lewis is No. 2 in the triple jump (48-6) and No. 3 in the long jump (23-4.5). Joe Stein stayed No. 5 in the 60-meter dash (6.87 seconds). Drake Lewis is fifth in the high jump (6-8.75) and Will DeHaan is 7th in the 800-meter run (1:53.59).
The Dutch women have six top-10 national marks. Kennedy Morris is No. 3 in the weight throw (56-10.25). Mary Gray and Kiki Pingel are No. 7 and No. 9 in the pentathlon with 3,476 points and 3,406 points. Holly Forrester is No. 7 in the triple jump with (37-7.25). The distance medley relay moved up to No. 8 and the 4×400-meter relay team is No. 10.
Wartburg College is the highest-rated team of the 80 men’s programs in contention. Loras College and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse round out the top three. The University of Wisconsin La Crosse paces 75 women’s teams with Loras and Wartburg also in the top three. Central starts the outdoor season with the Dutch Invitational April 1-2.
