The Pella School Board held a public hearing for the fiscal year 2021-22 budget at their meeting Monday.
The board approved publishing spending limits and the proposed property tax rate for the upcoming academic year, which will remain at $14.60 per $1,000.
A resolution authorizing the redemption of general obligation school bonds was also approved. The board received an update about COVID-19 in the district as well.
Superintendent Greg Ebeling says more than 75 percent of their staff is now fully vaccinated after completing a second dose of the Moderna vaccine before spring break, and they will continue to closely monitor cases after many families vacationed over the past week. Ebeling said masks will likely remain required in their buildings through the end of the current school year, but they are reviewing some of their distancing guidelines after the CDC announced changes from six to three feet in learning spaces.
