Severe Weather Awareness Week continues in Iowa. When it comes to responding to disasters, including those that are weather-related, Emergency Management agencies play a significant role. Marion County Emergency Management Director Jeff Anderson says whenever danger is present or expected, he’ll get the word out by contacting KNIA/KRLS.
“Sometimes it’s limited information, but whatever we know, we share with the community. We’ll use our social media accounts, have KNIA/KRLS get the information out. That’s the big thing, trying to increase community preparedness by sharing the information that we have.”
KNIA/KRLS will provide Severe Weather Action Team coverage anytime a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for any portion of Marion or Warren Counties. Hear from Anderson and other local officials on a special Severe Weather Awareness Week program at 11:00 a.m. today on both KNIA and KRLS.
