PCM’s boys’ golf team is returning to practice for the first time since 2019, and they will be operating under new coach Mike Cardin.

Cardin is coming over after spending 26 seasons coaching golf at Ottumwa. Cardin’s coaching style involves emphasis on the short game and finishing holes strong. Cardin tells KRLS Sports that he is excited for a new coaching experience at a successful program.

“I am excited to get this going. I am not new to golf coaching but I am new to coaching boys at PCM. I have been helping as a volunteer for a little while and it is really exciting. It is taking me through some things I have been through before and I am excited to get started.”

Cardin also states that his team will hit the course for the first time today after going over fundamentals and rules for the first two days of the season. The boys’ first meet of the season will be April 6 when they travel to Lynnville-Sully.
