It’s a mix of familiar foes and new opponents for the Pella Christian football team in the next two year district window.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association recently released classifications and districts, with several changes announced, including the addition of the new Class 5A and a significant shift for the larger schools in Iowa.

Although the regular season has been reduced for the Eagles and other smaller schools, the postseason has been expanded to include 32 of the 48 Class 1A teams, with five district games on the docket.

Pella Christian will face the following teams in the next two seasons (1A District 6):
Cardinal, Eldon
Central Decatur, Leon
Pella Christian
Pleasantville
Sigourney-Keota
Van Buren County

Pleasantville and Central Decatur have been regular opponents for the Eagles in the regular season — the Eagles have clashed against both 10 times since 2006, mostly as district foes. Sigourney-Keota was in the same district as P.C. from 2012-2015 and playoff foes in 2016 and 2017. Cardinal and Van Buren from southeast Iowa will be new matchups.

Full schedules, including non-district opponents, are set to be released in April. Hear every Eagles football game this fall on 92.1 KRLS and the KRLS2 stream.
