Indianola Technology Integration Coach Ali Sauter was named as the “Educator of the Year” by the Indianola Chamber of Commerce this past year, for her work with helping to integrate a virtual learning curriculum during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sauter tells KNIA News this year was about so much more than just putting classes online, it was about making sure students had access to the internet and able to do the work, teachers were able to correctly convey the information, and staff members could be available to do their jobs. Sauter also said this award was a team effort.

“Being named as the Educator of the Year from the Chamber of Commerce was a great honor, but I’m seriously saying, and I’ve said this before, I couldn’t do what I do without the awesome teachers that we have in our district and all of the hard work they are putting in. This change to remote learning this year has definitely increased my workload, but I recognize that it has vastly increased everyone else’s workload as well.”

Sauter was recently featured on In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard. To listen to the full interview, click below.
