A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday at the site of the new Knoxville Middle School building. School board members, school administrators, and representatives from Boyd Jones, the building contractor, were on site. Superintendent Cassi Pearson said during her address that this new building will provide a wide range of opportunities for learning.

“Our students and staff are going to have opportunities that we couldn’t provide in the old building, and that’s really exciting. Our community has been supportive. We thank you for getting out to vote. We also ask for your patience. The next year and a half, we know there’s going to be some inconveniences, we know there’s going to be some fences that go up, and some areas that might be off limits for a short period of time. We truly believe that in the end, it’s going to be well worth that short term inconvenience.”
