On the 100th Anniversary of the Iowa Flag, the banner representing the state was flown not only across all 99 counties, but across the Atlantic Ocean.
Christian Berge lived in Pella as an AFS Exchange student 36 years ago, and told KRLS Radio he lived with the Fischer family by Lake Red Rock and the Timmer Family on Monroe Street. Berge now lives in Asker, Norway, and had the State of Iowa flag on display.
A photo of a certificate he sent to KRLS was signed by Governor Terry Branstad in October of 1984, when it was flown over the Iowa State Capitol Building in Des Moines at the request of Leo and Karen Fischer.
