The Iowa Senate has passed a mental health funding bill, providing $60 million in mental health funding in year one of the program, and $125 million in year two. State Senator Julian Garrett tells KNIA News it became clear to the Iowa Legislature that this was something that needed to be addressed at the state level.
“It has become obvious that we really need to do more in this area. We’ve had a lot of discussions over the years, hearing from not only the general public but professionals in that area. So we have a bill now that makes changes in the way mental health is funded.”
