The Knoxville Boys Golf Squad begins play on Thursday when the Panthers head to Osceola to play South Central Conference foe Clarke and a non-conference competitor West Central Valley. While Coach Barry Smith has a lot of potential on his squad, they have little to no experience in competition. Smith says that is a concern as the season gets underway.

Smith:
“A lot of these boys have never played a competitive golf tournament, and I only have one boy on the team that’s played in a tournament, and that’s John Buttell and he played in one tournament as a sophomore. So we don’t have a lot of tournament experience with the boys.

The girls will also join the boys playing Clarke and West Central Valley, and Smith says the girls have several rounds of meet and tournament experience. Tee off Thursday is scheduled to begin at 4:00.
