The track and field season on Eagle Lane will begin today with the Pella Christian boys opening at home and the girls on the short trek northwest to Monroe in the first springtime events for the maroon and gold in two years.

The Eagles are hosting an early bird meet that includes area schools Knoxville and Pleasantville in the boys races and throws, while the girls take on PCM and the Trojans among a few other schools.

Head Coach Keith Anderson says both meets will be a good early-season test with schools similar in talent level, especially with larger competitions in the elite Little Hawkeye Conference looming in the coming weeks.

“We’ll start off with the boys hosting a five-team meet; the girls will head up to PCM, so there will be some teams similar in size to us, and I think that’s always good instead of jumping in with those big schools right away, especially with the youth we have.”

Both meets begin at 4:30 p.m. Hear results from Eagles spring sports on 92.1 KRLS and find photos, interviews, and more over the next few months at KNIAKRLS.com.
