Pella Christian played host in the first outdoor boys track and field meet of the season, with area teams Knoxville and Pleasantville joining the competition Tuesday on Eagle Lane.
No team scores were kept among the five schools competing. Eagles Senior Carson Breon swept both hurdles races and is one of the few Eagles with prior varsity racing experience, but says after the long layoff, it felt more like his first ever competition with the combination of excitement and nerves.
“It’s weird, like in practice this year, the most I’ve run through is probably four hurdles,” he says. “So then coming back out here, just getting back into it, I was nervous as I was when I was a freshman running it for the first time, because it felt like so long.”
