There have been 20 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Marion County over the past week to the State of Iowa Coronavirus Database. In total, the Iowa Department of Public Health considers 77 cases to be active and infectious. On April 2nd, the 75th death due to the virus was reported — it was the first COVID-related fatality in three weeks. There are no residents hospitalized locally. In total, 7,064 Marion County residents have completed either a two-shot vaccination or Johnson and Johnson one dose series, with an additional 3,097 receiving the first of either Pfizer or Moderna, meaning 10,161 residents have at least one dose of a vaccine.
