Pella Christian Girls Victorious, Boys Fall in OT to Centerville
In a girls-boys varsity soccer doubleheader on Eagle Lane, it was split fortunes for the Eagles, as the Pella Christian girls won 1-0 and the boys fell in overtime to Centerville 1-0 Thursday.

In the opener, Pella Christian’s girls largely dominated possession over the 80 minutes in regulation and had several scoring chances come close. In the 36th minute, Joslyn Terpstra found the back of the net, and in the final ten minutes, goalkeeper Lydia Zylstra kept the scoresheet clean with several saves. Head Coach Mike Buchheit says the team made several strides throughout the week from game one on Monday to the third last night.

The Eagles soccer girls improve to 2-1, and they are off until a trip to Indianola Tuesday.

Mike Buchheit Postgame Interview:

In the nightcap, both Centerville and P.C. had several chances to take leads, with the Big Reds and Eagles controlling the halves possession and shotwise with the wind at their backs. A long-range goal dropped into the net in overtime for Centerville. Pella Christian’s boys fall to 1-3 and they travel to Des Moines Christian Monday.
