The Indianola girls tennis squad continued its blistering start to the season with a dominating win at the Boone Invitational Friday. The Indians won the divisions all around the tournament, including Anna Jordan and Melina Darrah winning the #1 doubles division, Kaelyn Kindlespire and Hannah Price winning the #2 doubles division, Keely Gruebel and Audri Hilton winning the #3 doubles division. Paige Bily got first place in the #1 singles division, and Hayden Laschanzky won the #3 singles division. The Indians will next hit the courts Tuesday at Oskaloosa.
The Indianola boys tennis squad fell to powerhouse Ballard Friday afternoon 9-2. The Indians got wins from Casey Daughenbaugh in #5 singles and Logan Darrah in #6 singles. Indianola will next play Oskaloosa on Tuesday.
The Indianola girls soccer team blasted Des Moines North 9-0 to win their home opener and first game of the season on senior night. The Indians scored early and often, building a 4-0 lead at the halftime break, then scoring another five in the second half to earn the big win. Megan Howard earned a hat trick, Aryss Forbes earned a brace, and Anna Brandt, Makenna Flinn, Mara Cosenza, and Gracie Foster each put in a goal.
Head coach Mackenzie Stump tells KNIA Sports her squad has put in the work and are expecting big things this season, even though they didn’t get to play last year. The Indians are now 1-1 on the season, and will host Pella Christian on Tuesday.
