Property assessments have been mailed to property owners in Marion County. Knoxville has seen increased values, which Assessor Kelli Kingrey says is due to a hotter real estate market compared to previous years.
“It’s all due to sales. People were just paying more for properties in Knoxville versus what the previous assessed values were. It just so happens that the market was quite a bit hotter in Knoxville than it had been in Pella a couple of years ago. In Pella, they saw an increase in 2019. This year, it was kind of flip-flopped.”
If property owners feel the assessments are too high, they can protest the assessed values by contacting the Marion County Assessor’s Office.
