The City of Pella partnered with Pella Christian High School Spanish Immersion students to make recycling information more accessible to those who speak Spanish.
An article written by Pella Mayor Don Dewaard in a recent newsletter generated several questions and comments about recycling, and how it works in the community, and from there, the idea was formed with Spanish Immersion instructor Rebecca Gomez to collaborate, and have students work on ways to translate recycling details from Midwest Sanitation.
Pella Christian Spanish Immersion Student Mia Andringa says the project was meaningful because it applied what they were learning in the classroom by helping with a real-world issue.
