Pella Boys Head Basketball Coach Derek Schulte earned postseason recognition to cap off a remarkable year leading the green and while. Schulte was selected as the Class 3A Coach of the Year by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association. Schulte helmed the Dutch to the school’s 3rd state championship in March after a regular season in which they won the Little Hawkeye Conference championship.

It was an extra special championship day for Derek when his previous team Montezuma claimed the 1A crown on Championship Friday at Wells Fargo Arena on March 12th. Schulte earned his 250th career win at the state tournament.
