Dormant for Nearly a Decade, P.C. Boys Tennis Returns to Action
For the first time in nine years, the Eagles fielded a boys tennis team against varsity competition when they hosted Newton Tuesday. While the score was a sweep for the Cardinals, Pella Christian Head Coach Aaron Fitzgerald says it was a special occasion for his ten-player roster to play competitive tennis for the first time in a sanctioned event against a new opponent.

“It’s just exciting to get into the season,” he says. “We saw glimpses of some good stuff the guys were doing, and we’re just going to work on consistency; I think the more the guys play, the more they are going to see some of those skills translate.”

Pella Christian boys tennis was shuttered after the 2012 season due to waning interest in the program. Hear from Eagles’ tennis players Eric Huo, Isaac Natelborg, and Simon Belzer on the Radio Sports Page, airing Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Thursdays at 10 a.m. on 92.1 KRLS.

Pella Christian Girls 3-0 After Dominating at Newton
On the road to Newton, the Pella Christian girls continued their undefeated start to the season with a 10-1 win over the Cardinals. The Eagles only fell in the No. 2 singles match, with singles wins from Megan Kramer, Adrienne Vander Molen, Katy Roose, Sydney Van Arendonk, and Claire Vander Molen. The 3-0 Eagles host Saydel on Thursday to kick off a four match homestand.

Eagles Drop Both Soccer Matches to Indianola
The Eagles soccer teams fell on the wrong side of the scoreboard against both the Indianola boys and girls, with Pella Christian dropping both matches 6-0. Head Coach Mike Buchheit says his Eagles were short handed on the defensive backline due to a last minute substitution, which allowed Indianola to have a strong offensive assault on Goalkeeper Lydia Zylstra. The Pella Christian girls are now 2-2.

At the Pella City Soccer Complex, the Eagles boys never found their footing against Indianola, dropping their 5th straight match. P.C. will try to right the ship after a week away from the pitch, when they host Grinnell on Tuesday the 20th.
