The Central Dutch and Simpson Storm Softball teams battled to a split in an American Rivers Conference Doubleheader, as Simpson took game one in six innings, 14-5, while Central took game two, 8-5, as heard on the KNIA3 stream at kniakrls.com.

Game one belonged to Simpson, thanks to four home runs and 16 total hits from the Storm, including a grand slam by Megan Crockett in the third inning. Simpson also got dingers from Taryan Barrick-Wessels, Karlie Hill, and Emily Bell. Simpson’s Brooke Tucker got her first win of the season. Central had two home runs in game one, which came from Megan Stuhr and Megan Doty. Morgan Schaben got the loss, dropping her to 1-2.

Game two saw Central jump out to an 8-0 lead after three innings thanks to five walks and a grand slam from Franie Burnett in the second inning. Sydni Huisman got the victory for the Dutch, upping her record to 6-4 on the season. The Storm fought back with two home runs from Camrey Leo, but it ultimately wasn’t enough as Simpson left 13 runners on base, including the bases loaded to end the game. Carlyn Stanley picked up the loss, dropping her to 0-4.

The rubber match between these two teams will take place tonight at Simpson, with first pitch starting at 5:00 PM.
