The Central softball team concluded its midweek series at Simpson with a single game Thursday. The Dutch earned a 2-1 series win with a 13-5 6-inning victory on the road. Central piled on five runs in both the first and sixth innings to put the game out of reach. Leading the way at the plate was Megan Stuhr with two hits and three RBI. Sydni Huisman was the winning pitcher in helping the Dutch move to 8-6 overall and 6-4 in American Rivers Conference play. They’ll return to action at home Saturday to begin a weekend series against Dubuque.

The men’s tennis team was at Wartburg, and edged out a 5-4 win. Singles wins came from David Boschma, Brad DiLeo, and Trey Melvin. The doubles teams of Boschma/Melvin and St. John/Finken rounded out the win. The Dutch are back in action Saturday at Nebraska Wesleyan.

Events today include the track & field teams in action in Oskaloosa at the William Penn Invitational, the baseball team beginning a weekend series at Dubuque, and the women’s tennis team hosting Simpson.
