Five Norwalk varsity teams were in action Thursday.
The boys track & field team competed at Waukee for the second time this season, and placed third in the AA class with 74.5 points. Highlighting the meet was the 4×800 meter relay team, which broke a school record in placing first with a time of 8:13.16. Junior Brody Lucas said it’s the result of preparation and teamwork.
Other top finishers included:
Jacey Hutson – 2nd in 400M Dash
Derek Webster – 2nd in 800M Run
Pat Foster – 1st in 3200M Run
The Warriors return to action Monday in a home invitational.
The girls track & field team was at the Dodger Relays in Fort Dodge, and placed 2nd with 139.5 points. Top finishers included:
Claire Farrell – 1st in 100M Dash
Haley Downe – 1st in 400M Dash
Torin Lackmann – 1st in 800M Run
Kady Vandemark – 2nd in Shot Put
1st in 4x100M Relay
2nd in 400M Shuttle Hurdle Relay
1st in 800 Sprint Medley Relay
2nd in 1600 Distance Medley Relay
Norwalk is back in action Tuesday at Dallas Center-Grimes.
The girls tennis team was in Huxley for a dual against Ballard, picking up an 8-3 win. Singles wins came from Kelsey Dammeier, Madison Haskell, Ava Johnson and Charlee Peters. The doubles teams of Kallenbach/Haskell; Aagard/Peters; Larson/Dehmer; and Atha-Abbott/Bakley also picked up wins. Norwalk returns home Thursday to take on Newton.
The boys tennis team hosted Ballard, but fell 8-3. Hayden Steele was the lone singles winner. The other wins came from the doubles teams of LaVelle/Bush and Steele/Mills. The Warriors are back at it today in a tournament at Johnston.
The girls soccer team hosted Southeast Polk and moved to 3-0 with a 2-0 victory. The goals came from JoJo Bice and Addison Bice. Norwalk returns to action Saturday in a tournament at ADM.
Along with boys tennis, the boys soccer team heads to a tournament at Valley, and will take on Des Moines Hoover at 5:30 p.m.
