The Pella and Pella Christian football teams will be well represented with alumni in the NAIA Football playoffs, held this spring due to COVID-19.
It’s a historic moment for the Dordt University program, who enters as the 15 seed and by far has the largest group of Tulip City athletes on its roster in the school’s first ever postseason appearance. The vision of Seniors David Kacmarynski and Levi Jungling — both now seniors and a state record-breaking duo from Eagle Lane, is coming to life when the two took a chance on Joel Penner and his goals for the Defenders program. The pair are joined by former Gatorade Player of the Year Noah Clayberg and fellow Dutch Reece Schnell, Lucas Warner, and Quinton Murphy, and fellow Eagles Max Kolb, brothers Alex and Jayden Huisman, and Levi’s younger brother Daniel. They play at No. 2 Grandview in Des Moines today at noon.
Former Pella High Kicker and 2019 National Champion Chase Carter is the kicker at powerhouse Morningside, listed as the No. 1 seed as they seek a threepeat atop the NAIA.
Jase Amelse is a former Eagle and a reserve for Northwestern College, who is the 6 seed.
