The City of Indianola is asking residents to help keep litter and debris out of the stormwater system. According to a city memo, not only does it help keep the community clean and ensure the integrity of the community infrastructure, but it allows for the proper drainage of stormwater. The City’s Water Pollution Control Departments was required to use more than 40 hours of labor and 7,500 gallons of water to clear a stormwater sewer that was completely blocked with a significant amount of debris that included cardboard, styrofoam, bottles, cans, and other materials.
