A trio of Central College student-athletes were announced as the American Rivers Conference performers of the week Monday afternoon. Men’s tennis player David Boschma, men’s track and field athlete Lucas Heitz and softball first baseman Megan Stuhr were all recognized for their efforts last week.

Boschma was 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles for both of Central’s wins last week. The Dutch beat Wartburg College 5-4 and Nebraska Wesleyan University 8-1. At No. 2 singles, Boschma was a 6-2, 6-0 winner against Wartburg and a 6-2, 6-1 winner at Nebraska Wesleyan. Playing with Trey Melvin, the tandem won a pair of 8-2 matches at No. 2 doubles. The Dutch wrap up their regular season schedule with matches at the University of Dubuque and Loras College Sunday.

In his first career decathlon, Heitz was fourth at the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic hosted by Doane University (Neb.). He totaled 5,972 points and is No. 15 in NCAA Division III so far this season. Heitz won the indoor pentathlon title at the conference meet in February. This weekend, the Dutch track and field team will have entries at both the Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College.

Stuhr helped the Dutch to a 6-2 mark on the softball field last week by batting .542 with 13 hits and six RBI. She blasted her first career home run, added two doubles and scored three total runs. She had five multi-hit games on the week, including a career-best three hits in a 1-0 win over Dubuque Saturday.

Central hosts Loras College Friday at 2 p.m. for a doubleheader.
