The Central soccer teams played their penultimate contests of the spring season, traveling to Storm Lake to take on Buena Vista. The Dutch women picked up their second victory of the season in an 8-0 thrashing of the Beavers. Abby Frey and Abby Sutberry each scored two goals to lead the way. In total, six players scored. Central moves to 2-4 on the season.

It took double overtime for the Central men to grind out a 2-1 victory. The Dutch fell behind 1-0 at halftime. After struggling offensively, Central’s Alec Lank scored his first goal of the season in the 80th minute to tie the match 1-1. The winning goal was scored by Brant Mueller in the 103rd minute to seal the win. Central moves to 3-3-1 on the season.

Both teams will wrap up the season Saturday with a pair of home matches against Luther.

In action today is the men’s golf team, as they host the Central Dutch shootout. Other teams involved include St. Ambrose, Augustana, Buena Vista, and Nebraska Wesleyan. First tee times are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Bos Landen Golf Club.
