While the score was 2-0, the Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad dominated the possession and the match with Chariton on Friday night in Ken Locke Stadium. The Panthers held a 1-0 lead at the halftime break after Emmett Schmidt nailed a goal with 8:22 left. Knoxville had several chances to make the score more lopsided but Chariton’s goalie made key stops to keep the Chargers in the match. Schmidt added the insurance goal with 3:23 left off a free kick. Panthers Coach Dylan Mick told KNIA/KRLS Sports defensively he was very pleased with the performance, especially allowing no shots on goal.

Mick:
“One of the things when we played in Chariton the first time, we allowed no shots on goal, and I’ll have to look at the stat sheets but I don’t thing Carson had to make any stops tonight, and when you have a clean sheet that means you played well defensively and that’s what we’re looking for.”

Knoxville is 4-3 on the season and will travel to Boone for an invitational today. The Panthers will take on Des Moines North in round one then either Boone or Iowa Falls.
