The Storm baseball team split a doubleheader with the Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan Saturday in a pair of games heard live on the KNIA3 stream, a 6-2 loss and a 6-4 win. The Storm scored the first run of the first contest to take a 1-0 lead, but gave up six unanswered to trail 6-1 going into the later innings. Simpson left runners on base after attempting a rally in the seventh, and couldn’t finish the comeback.
In game two, the Storm got out to a 4-0 lead through the second inning, then added another pair of runs in the third to get an insurmountable lead. Much like in game one, the team trailing mounted a late comeback, but was unable to get the clutch hit to secure the win. The Storm are now 10-16 overall and 7-13 in the conference, and will next play Friday at Luther.
