The Knoxville Girls Track and Field Squad finished 11th of 13 teams at the Charger Relays in Chariton on Tuesday. The Panthers had two 2nd place performances from Ciara Heffron throwing 113-11, and a runner-up performance from Ashlyn Finarty in the shot put tossing 33-10. Melanie Sullivan came away with two bronze medals placing 3rd in the long jump at 15-5.5 inches and she was 3rd in the 200 with a time of :28.43. The Knoxville Boys Track and Field Squad finished 12th at the Wildcat Relays in Carlisle. Seth Walraven placed 8th in the 3200 and T.J. DeJong was 5th in the long jump.
A four goal night for Hanna Linsley propelled the Knoxville Girls Soccer Squad to an 8-0 win over Centerville Tuesday night at Ken Locke Stadium. Linsley scored two goals in the first half to help Knoxville build a 5-0 lead at the halftime break, and added two more in the second half. Taylor Jones nailed two goals, along with Marley McKay adding two as well. Coach Matt Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports defensively his team is playing as good as they have all season.
Ritchhart:
“We are playing very well defensively right now and Charlee Heffron is taking a bigger role on the back end, but then Brooke Moore and Kira Deaver on the outside back, we are asking much more of our outside backs as they are sprinting all the way down and back and they are doing an exceptional job.”
Knoxville moves to 4-4 on the season. The Knoxville Boys Golf Squad won the Centerville Invitational on Tuesday scoring a 342, finishing 11 strokes better than runner-up Albia. Evan Smith was overall medalist with a 76. The Panthers head to the Moravia Invitational on Thursday.
